Our community is full of year-round charm, but the warm months—from spring to the holiday season bring especially exciting opportunities for families. Whether you’re looking for outdoor fun, creative activities, or community events, here’s a month-by month guide from May through December to help you make the most of life at Settler’s Square.
May: Farmers Markets
May marks the return of the Festival City Farmer’s Market. Explore fresh produce, taste homemade goodies, and enjoy live local music every Saturday on Main Street in Cedar City.
June: Shakespeare & Summer Picnics
The Utah Shakespeare Festival begins in June, with select family-friendly shows perfect for introducing the kiddos to live theater. It’s also the perfect time to kick off summer with a picnic in the park. Don’t forget your picnic blanket and sunscreen!
July: Fireworks & Pioneer Day Celebrations
Cedar City goes all out for the Fourth of July, with the Independence Day Parade and Festival being an event you don’t want to miss. Another highlight event happening in July is the July Jamboree. At this event, you’ll enjoy an impressive car show, live music, and vendors.
August: The Iron County Fair
The Iron County Fair in nearby Parowan is a family favorite with a demolition derby, car show, rodeo, carnival, and so much more. There’s something for everyone at the County Fair, happening the end of August and into September.
September: Fall Colors & Events at Cross Hollows
As temperatures cool, enjoy a day trip to Cedar Breaks National Monument to see the brilliant fall foliage. There’s also an array of events happening at the Cross Hollow Arena in Cedar City, including the Stock Show, SUU Rodeo, and Rock & Gem Show. Don’t forget about the Festival of Homes presented by the Iron County Home Builders Association.
October: Pumpkin Patches & Halloween Fun
October in Cedar City means festive fun! Head to a local pumpkin patch and decorate your porch with the kids. You may also want to participate in trick or treating on Main Street in downtown Cedar City, or catch the annual Cedar Livestock and Heritage Festival celebrating the area’s ranching roots.
November: A Month of Gratitude
Focus on family togetherness in November with acts of service and gratitude. A great way to give back during the Thanksgiving season is by supporting the Dancing with The Community Stars fundraising event for the Iron County Children’s Justice Center. Another great event is the Holiday Tree Jubilee, where you can bring the family to see Santa and an amazing display of decorated Christmas trees to help kick off the Christmas season.
December: Christmas Lights & Holiday Magic
Wrap up the year with festive lights and cozy traditions. Take a drive through neighborhood light displays and spot Santa at pop-up events around town. At home, enjoy hot cocoa, gingerbread houses, and holiday movie nights.
From warm-weather festivals to winter wonderlands, our community offers so many ways for families to create lasting memories together, and living in Settler’s Square puts you right at the heart of it all!
